Day one, Halifax, Nova Scotia

We made it to Halifax, Nova Scotia.  It took 2 planes and 10 hrs total (including layovers) to get here, but we are here!  We had beautiful weather for the first day, about 60 degrees and sunny! Soooo nice for us Arizonan's! 

This is one of the bridges which go across Halifax harbour, connecting Halifax and Dartmouth. 

We're staying at the Prince George Hotel in downtown Halifax.  Very nice hotel.

The Citadel is right next to the hotel and we can see the clock tower from our room. The clock tower was a gift from Prince Edward in 1804.

The highlight of the day was visiting the Halifax Temple!  This temple is a real miracle since there are only 6,000 saints living in this temple district. Steve said it was incredible to see because he never thought the day would come.  There where no wards, only branches, when Steve was on his mission, and now there are 2 stakes! We met a few people at the temple. One was a member of the temple presidency who joined the church around the same time Steve was serving here and knew his mission president. Another, was a man who does maintenance (the gold plating on Moroni) on the Temples in North and South America.  He and his wife have lived in Nova Scotia their whole life but have recently moved to Chandler, Arizona to be closer to their grandchildren. It's amazing how small the world really is!

This office building is where the mission office was when Steve was serving his mission.  Steve worked with the mission president in the office for 9 months of his mission here in Dartmouth.
